Chat rules that keep trades safe

Most trades arranged in chat go fine. The ones that go wrong nearly always break one of these four rules first.

No trust trades, ever

If someone asks you to send your item first and promises to send theirs after, that is the single most common MM2 scam. There is no middleman on this site, and anyone offering to be one is scamming you.

Check before you accept

Run any offer through the trade checker. “This is a huge win for you” is a sales pitch; the totalled values are a fact.

Keep personal details out

You never need your email, your password, your age or your school to make a trade. Anyone asking for them is not trading.

Report rather than argue

Use the report option on a message instead of fighting in the room. It is faster, and it leaves us a record we can act on.

There is a longer breakdown of how these scams are actually run (fake middlemen, item switches, and the recovery lie) in our MM2 trading safety guide.

Getting a trade taken in chat

Say what you have and what you want in one message. “Trading Icewing, looking for godly offers around the same value” gets replies; “anyone wanna trade?” scrolls past. Naming the item and the rough value you expect does most of the work.

Know your own numbers before you post. Look the item up on the value list so you can answer “what do you want for it” without guessing. Most offers that stall do so because neither side is sure what the item is worth.

When someone makes an offer, put it through the trade checker before you answer. It takes a few seconds and turns a negotiation into arithmetic. And if the trade is fair, showing the other player the totals is usually what closes it.

For offers you want to leave up while you are away, post them on the trade feed instead. Chat moves fast; the feed keeps your trade visible with both totals attached.

MM2 chat — FAQ

What is the MM2 chat for?

MM2 chat is a public room for Murder Mystery 2 players. Talk about godly values, line up trades, and ask for help. All in one place.

Do I need an account to read MM2 chat?

No. You can read MM2 chat without an account. To send messages or DM other traders, you do need to sign in so the community stays safe from spam.

Is the MM2 chat moderated?

Yes. We remove scams, hate, and rule-breaking content. Block any user you don't want to see and report bad messages from the chat menu.

Is this an MM2 trading server?

It works like one, without needing a separate app or an invite link. The chat room is where players talk and arrange deals, and the trade feed is where offers get posted with values attached so both sides can see what a trade is actually worth.

Can I get scammed in MM2 chat?

Not through the chat itself. No items change hands here. The risk is always in-game, after someone talks you into a trade. Check every offer in the trade checker first, and never accept a deal where the other player asks you to hand items over first.

Why do I need to sign in to send messages?

Reading is open to everyone. Sending needs an account because it is the only thing that makes moderation work. Without it, a banned scammer is back thirty seconds later under a new name.
